Health Foundation of South Florida Chief Strategy Officer Featured at 2025 Grantmakers In Health Annual Conference

MIAMI, FL — June 16, 2025 – The Health Foundation of South Florida is proud to share that its Chief Strategy Officer, Dr. Janisse Schoepp, was a featured speaker at the 2025 Grantmakers In Health (GIH) Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy.

Dr. Schoepp was a panelist during the Learning Lab session titled “Impact Investing: A Tool to Bolster Impact and Catalyze Place-Based Collaboration,” a three-hour deep dive into how foundations can align capital with their mission to accelerate systems-level change. The session equipped philanthropic leaders—foundation executives and trustees—with tools and real-world examples to help launch or scale their own impact investing and anchor collaborative strategies.

Drawing on her work at the Health Foundation, Dr. Schoepp shared insights on structuring early-stage impact investments, building buy-in from boards and staff, and engaging anchor institutions—such as hospitals and universities—in regional, equity-centered investment strategies. She also spotlighted the Foundation’s South Florida Anchor Alliance, which she helped establish to create a more inclusive economy through local procurement and workforce development.

“Impact investing is not just a financial tool—it’s a strategic lever for advancing equity and improving population health at scale,” said Dr. Schoepp. “We’re demonstrating how health foundations can move capital in ways that shift systems and deepen their impact beyond grantmaking.”

A nationally recognized leader in public health strategy and mission-aligned investment, Dr. Schoepp also contributed to and served as a reviewer for “Activating Place-Based Partnerships for Equitable Economic Development: A Playbook for Anchor Collaboratives,” a widely used national resource that guides institutions in building effective, equity-centered investment partnerships.

This year’s GIH convening—the largest in the country, focused on health philanthropy—welcomed more than 600 leaders under the theme “Forging Partnerships for a Better Tomorrow.” The conference was designed to equip grant makers with actionable strategies to advance cross-sector collaboration. GIH continues to serve as a vital platform for driving innovation and lasting impact in health philanthropy.
