“The Get Covered Broward program is a lifeline for our community, ensuring access to affordable health coverage.”
Nicole Cohen, Public Information Officer, Broward Regional Health Planning Council
With 215,000 uninsured residents in Broward County, access to affordable healthcare is more important than ever. Broward Regional Health Planning Council’s (BRHPC) “Get Covered Broward” initiative, funded by the Health Foundation, helps community members navigate their Affordable Care Act enrollment and secure affordable insurance. By offering multilingual assistance, BRHPC breaks down barriers that hinder uninsured and underserved residents from accessing the coverage they need.
During the last reporting period, Get Covered Broward helped individuals access subsidies or tax credits, including nearly 1,101 previously uninsured and 1,410 renewals that helped many keep their coverage. The BRHPC team successfully enrolled 2,511 consumers into affordable insurance coverage via the federal marketplace (ACA). Nicole Cohen, Public Information Officer at BRHPC, shared: “The program empowers families to make informed health decisions. We’re proud of the positive impact on the well-being of Broward County.” From financial relief to improved health outcomes, this approach transforms lives and strengthens communities across Broward County.
One resident shares how this program changed his life, offering hope and stability: “Thanks to the Get Covered Broward program, I found an affordable plan for my family. It’s a huge relief to know we’re covered.”
