Care Resource Completes Expansion Improving Access to Care

The Keys AHEC clinics are breaking down the barriers too many families and children faced when trying to access basic healthcare.

Care Resource is a nonprofit organization and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with five locations — Midtown Miami, Little Havana, Miami Beach, and two Fort Lauderdale clinics. They provide compassionate, competent, and committed healthcare and support services to address the complete healthcare needs of pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations.

Care Resource had outgrown its primary location in Midtown, leading to long wait times and overcrowding. In 2021, the Health Foundation provided Care Resource with grant funding for its Midtown Miami renovation and expansion project. The funds supported the purchase of new medical equipment and exam room supplies and helped Care Resource open 16 additional medical and pediatric suites.

The new facility opened in 2022. Now that construction is complete, wait times to schedule appointments have significantly improved, down from 13 to 8 days, increasing access to healthcare for the medically underserved, low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients served by Care Resource.
