Public Policy
One of the Foundation’s public policy priorities has been increased funding of preventive cancer screening services through elimination or reduction of co-pays and deductibles. Given that the newly adopted Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act includes a provision addressing this issue, the Foundation will be exploring its role, if any, in the implementation and/or evaluation of impact in our community. Furthermore, the Foundation is in support of the creation of a National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program modeled after the existing National Breast and Cervical Cancer Program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
