Adoption of Best Practices in Children’s Settings

Health Foundation will work with system-level institutions such as The Children’s Trust, Children Services Council, the Early Learning Coalitions, School Districts, and other appropriate agencies to seek collaborative opportunities that will lead to the adoption of policy, systems, and environmental change in children settings.

Improving Access to Federal Nutrition Assistance Programs

The Foundation supports efforts to increase participation in federal nutrition assistance programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, and Afterschool Nutrition Programs. These programs help support children’s health and academic achievement by providing nutritious meals and snacks that combat hunger and improve nutrition.

Infrastructure Improvements to Support Physical Activity

The Foundation is interested in supporting child care center and after-school providers who are in need of playground equipment or other infrastructure improvement to increase engagement of children in outdoor play. The organization must commit to adopting an institutional policy that states children will be provided with at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day.

What We Will Fund:

  • Consultant
  • Physical Activity equipment/infrastructure (i.e. playground equipment, trails, fitness stations)
  • Playground flooring

What We Will Not Fund:

  • Sport-related facilities (i.e. basketball courts, swimming pools)

When to Apply:

Concept proposals are accepted through our online Portal three times a year with the following deadlines: March 15, May 15 and August 15.
